AccessResolve Parenting and Property Mediation
A parenting and property family dispute resolution (mediation) service for court-ordered clients, delivered by Relationships Australia Victoria on behalf of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (the Court).

Eligibility
You must be ordered by the FCFCOA to be able to use our AccessResolve Property Mediation service.
If you don't have a court order to attend AccessResolve mediation, you may be able to access our family dispute resolution (FDR) service.
About our AccessResolve service
AccessResolve assists separating parties who have begun proceedings in the Court to participate in family dispute resolution (mediation). Supported by a neutral, independent mediator, parties identify the outstanding issues of dispute, and explore options to resolve them.
Parties attend with their legal representative, or on their own as self-represented litigants. It is expected that parties will come prepared to consider alternatives and engage in negotiations to reach agreements, with the goal of reaching a settlement without the need for further legal action.
Although the mediator is unable to provide legal advice, they can speak to the parties about the legal principles that apply and will actively encourage the participants to reach agreement.
Mediation is conducted online, unless the Court orders otherwise.
Possible outcomes

Parties reach agreement in mediation. This may result in an agreement that can be made into ‘orders by consent’ in court.

Parties resolve some, but not all, matters in dispute. This helps to narrow down the issues that need to be decided by the court.

Parties are unable to resolve matters in mediation. In this situation, the mediator will refer the matter back to the court for resolution.
About our mediators
AccessResolve mediators are:
- accredited by the Attorney-General’s Department as Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners
- experienced in property and financial disputes
- qualified legal practitioners.
Getting started
You must be ordered by the Court to be able to use our AccessResolve service. Your court order will contain details about how to contact us to arrange your mediation. It will also tell you which documents you need to provide before your mediation session.
Cost
Please see your court order for information about service fees and payment methods. Payments cannot be made directly to AccessResolve.
