In the lead up to the ‘Neighbours Every Day’ national day of action on 26 March, we’re inviting you to share your story of community and belonging.
Neighbours Every Day is Relationships Australia’s year-round community campaign, encouraging Australians to take everyday steps which create social connection and foster respectful relationships. Each year, Neighbours Every Day culminates in a national day of action. This year, this day falls on Sunday 26 March.
Our theme this year ‘Create Belonging’ invites you to reflect on how you can help create belonging across Australia and build the inclusive communities you want to live in, one relationship at a time.
Belonging is about the sense of safety and comfort you feel when you are accepted for who you are. It’s more than inclusion, it’s an authentic acceptance and a state of feeling both connected and supported.
Tell us your story
If you have a story of community and belonging in recent times or over the years, we’d love to hear it! Submit your story of 400 words or less before 11:59pm on Sunday 26 February 2023 and you’ll go into the draw to win a $400 voucher.

National, state and territory winners will be announced on Tuesday 7 March 2023 on the Neighbours Every Day website and social media platforms. Winners will also be contacted directly.
Every connection helps create belonging
Whether through a cuppa, a picnic in the park, a message of support or a simple act of friendship with those around us, connection can, and should, be something we all strive for whenever we can.
Individuals, community organisations and local Councils can foster belonging among their networks by promoting the Neighbours Every Day resources and creating inclusive, welcoming spaces and events for people to connect.
