Men’s behaviour change programs (MBCPs) are a critical part of Australia’s efforts to address family violence. Yet across the sector, there is an ongoing need to better understand when these programs are effective, for whom and why.

In partnership with Relationships Australia New South Wales, we are hosting a webinar that explores the first stage of a national project designed to strengthen the evidence base for MBCPs.

This work has been undertaken in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) and focuses on developing a shared approach to evaluating diverse program models across Australia.

This session will examine the co-design of a generalisable Theory of Change that can be applied across a wide range of MBCP models delivered by Relationships Australia services nationally, and potentially across the sector more broadly.

Despite differences in program structure, funding and legislative contexts, the project identified common aim, activities and mechanisms that underpin behaviour change.

The webinar will:

  • explore the challenges of evaluating diverse programs
  • present the co-designed Theory of Change
  • outline how this model is informing the development of an evaluation framework
  • share insights for practitioners, managers and evaluators working in similar contexts.

Who should attend

This session is suited to practitioners, managers and evaluators working in family and community services who are interested in evaluation, program design and evidence-informed practice.

Date: Tuesday 5 May
Time: 12:30pm AEST
Cost: Free

This webinar is part of a broader 2-part learning opportunity. A second webinar on 6 May, hosted by AIFS, with guests from Relationships Australia Victoria and New South Wales, respectively, will focus more specifically on the co-design process and its application across child and family services.
