Announcing a new edition of 'Men and separation: Navigating the future'
4 December 2025
Relationships Australia Victoria is pleased to release a new edition of Men and separation Navigating the future
This practical and easy-to-read resource is designed to support men as they navigate the challenges of separation and plan for the future.
Originally developed by Relationships Australia Victoria and MensLine Australia, with contributions in later editions from Beyond Blue, this updated version incorporates contemporary research, a greater focus on safety and wellbeing, and an expanded list of recommended resources including online resources, podcasts and research.
The booklet offers clear, accessible information across key topics including men’s experiences of separation, emotional wellbeing, co-parenting, children’s needs, communication with former partners, family violence, financial and property matters, and planning for the future. It also includes guidance on where to find additional help and resources.
This latest edition incorporates updated statistics and research, and a more inclusive approach, acknowledging the diversity of families, cultures and gender identities. It aims to normalise the wide range of feelings and experiences men may have during and after separation.
Importantly, the booklet highlights the importance of placing children’s best interests at the centre of separation-related decision-making. It also has additional information on family violence, including different types of violence and abuse, the impacts on families, and where to seek support — whether someone is using or experiencing violence.
We hope this new edition of Men and separation: Navigating the future will continue to be a trusted resource that supports men to better understand, navigate and move forward through the separation process in safe and healthy ways.

Printed copies will be available soon, with further information to be provided on Relationships Australia Victoria’s website once copies are ready.
