RAV hosts a screening of SEEN: The Film
29 May 2025
On Monday 26 May, an audience of over 400 people turned out for a free community screening of SEEN: The Film, sponsored by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) in partnership with the City of Ballarat.

SEEN is a groundbreaking feature-length documentary that not only explores the transformative power of personal healing for parents but also delves into the scientifically supported effects of such healing on parenting and its impact on child brain development.
The film, which was produced by ParentTV and created in collaboration with parenting and child development experts, has no-doubt sparked conversations at home and in the community on how parents can build healthier connections to positively impact child brain development to create stronger, healthier families.
Attendees had the opportunity to share their reflections at the end of the night, with more than 115 people responding to our question of ‘What is the most valuable thing you’re taking away from tonight?’ with statements such as:
- ‘My legacy is love’
- 'Parent child interaction is EVERYTHING’
- ‘It’s never too late to grow’
- ‘Parents need support’
- ‘Tell my children they are loved and they are enough’

Before the screening we were humbled to be welcomed to Country by Aunty Joy Oldaker, a proud Wadawurrung Elder. She shared with us the importance of family and connection, and the need to look at our pasts in the context of family, especially past trauma.
The screening was held as part of our new pilot of a community-focused, preventative approach to strengthening relationships in Ballarat. The film is a powerful reminder of the transformative power of healing not only for parents, but also for children and their development.
